Boreal Renewable Energy Development
was founded in 2003 to provide comprehensive project management for renewable energy projects. A confluence of forces make the time right for renewable energy projects and include: improved technology, lower costs per kW installed, high electricity rates, renewable energy inducements via tax incentives, grants programs, climate change mitigation policy and renewable energy certificate programs.

Boreal specializes in projects at business, municipal, and institutional sites with the capacity for large on-site distributed generation (0.5 to 10 MW). These projects allow the host site to reap the maximum financial and environmental benefits of their renewable energy resources. In addition, Boreal provides project management services and provides consulting on selected research and analysis topics.

Boreal specializes in projects with medium to large electric loads. We create an alternative renewable supply for our clients’ retail electricity consumption (with its associated high and volatile retail costs). On-site renewable energy projects can help avoid 50% or more of the electricity they are currently purchasing from their local electric utility.
Boreal focuses on projects which
are economically and environmentally beneficial to our clients. Our primary areas of expertise are wind and solar energy and hydroelectricity. We have capabilities relating to other renewable technologies such as biomass development.

For a successful project, a wide range of analyses must be made.  These span regulatory, economic, and engineering disciplines. Considerations and analysis include understanding and knowledge of: local, state, and federal permitting regulations; how to obtain community acceptance; retail electric pricing market rules and structure; grants through federal and state sources; tax rules and credits; critical site flaws (e.g. accessibility; geotechnical, neighbors, interconnection). Boreal understands the complexity of on-site renewable energy projects.

Boreal has actively recruited clients via identification of sites with high renewable energy potential. An internal client champion is key to the success of any project. If you are that champion, then we are ready to make renewable energy production at your site a reality.
