Siting Evaluations
Boreal reviews sites utilizing civil engineering and planning tools to determine the viability of a renewable energy project: including analysis of electric loads, zoning, satellite maps, utilities, and local, state, and federal regulations.

Project Finance/Grant Writing
Boreal understands the requirements of State and Federal renewable energy funding agencies, and has written numerous applications for grants for their clients’ projects. Boreal has found an array of firms interested in owning or financing a renewable energy project, if the host facility only wishes to purchase the electricity from the project at a substantial discount to their current costs.

Feasibility Assessments
Boreal performs comprehensive renewable energy feasibility studies and research projects. Feasibility studies can include analysis of: site suitability, renewable energy resource assessment, potential environmental impacts (including avian impacts), geotechnical capability, permitting, on-site energy consumption characteristics, utility rate class structure, photo simulation, electrical interconnection, and financial payback.

Meteorological Studies
Boreal installs meteorological towers and performs data analysis to determine a specific site’s wind resources.

Economic Pro Forma Analysis
For its commercial clients, Boreal has built a sophisticated pro forma tool that uses as inputs hourly electricity consumption, hourly renewable energy project production based on long-term and historic weather conditions, applicable retail and wholesale electricity rates, project costs, tax and interest rates. The tool provides financial returns in terms simple payback, net present value, internal rate of return, and years to breakeven, on both a pre and post tax basis. The model is constructed to easily provide sensitivity analysis for any variable of interest.

Community Education / Relations
Boreal provides key support in all aspects of community relations relating to renewable energy including the preparation of community relations plans.

Environmental Permitting
Boreal identifies all regulatory requirements, performs critical permitting flaw analysis and applies for and obtains local, state, federal approvals for renewable energy projects.

Renewable Energy Certificate Trading
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are created from the generation of renewable energy. The RECs have a market value that varies by state of origin and other aspects. Boreal is a licensed trader of RECs and can provide your company with services to register, trade, bank, retire or sell these certificates
